Scientists have identified a 200 million-year-old jawbone as belonging to a new species. In related news, researchers have discovered North America’s oldest known pterosaur, a winged reptile, in Arizona. The reptile has been named ‘ash-winged dawn goddess’ and is the newest known pterosaur in that region. The find in Petrified Forest National Park represents the oldest known pterosaur in North America, dating back over 200 million years. According to the researchers, this pterosaur was the size of a “small seagull”.
